What is SOFTSHELL FABRIC?
Softshell fabric is a type of technical outdoor fabric that is designed to provide protection against wind, water, and cold temperatures while remaining breathable and comfortable to wear. Softshell fabrics are typically made from a combination of materials such as polyester, nylon, and spandex, and are characterized by their stretchy, flexible, and lightweight nature.
Softshell fabrics typically have a soft, smooth surface on the outside, which is treated with a durable water repellent (DWR) coating to repel water, and a fleece or other brushed texture on the inside to provide warmth and insulation. This combination of features makes softshell fabrics ideal for a wide range of outdoor activities, such as hiking, climbing, skiing, and snowboarding. They are also commonly used for casual wear due to their comfort and versatility.
